Visa Eligibility for Engineering Professionals

If your occupation falls under the General Skilled Migration (GSM) Program due to its high demand in Australia as listed on the MLTSSL, you have the opportunity to apply for various visas. These visas include the Skilled Nominated subclass 190, Skilled Independent subclass 189, and Skilled Work Regional subclass 491. Furthermore, if you have a confirmed job offer, you may also be eligible to apply for different employer-sponsored visas.

Unit Group 2339: Unspecified Engineering Professionals

This unit group encompasses engineering specialists who don’t fall into specific categories. It includes engineers working in diverse fields such as aviation, agriculture, biomedicine, engineering technology, environmental engineering, naval architecture, and marine design. Depending on the specific role, registration or licensing may be necessary.

Skill Level Requirements for Engineering Professionals

For most occupations within this unit group, a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or higher education is typically required. However, this formal qualification can sometimes be substituted with at least five years of relevant experience or an equivalent vendor certification. In certain instances, practical work experience or on-the-job training may also be needed in addition to academic qualifications (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).

Exceptions for Unit Group 2339.

  • In several states and territories, there are exceptions for Australian graduates.
  • Certain requirements may be applied by Priority Skilled Lists in various states.
  • The UK, Canada, New Zealand, the US, and Ireland are among the nations exempt from submitting IELTS or OET scores. You must prove that your level of English is sufficient to meet license or registration requirements or have a minimum IELTS score, or equivalent, whichever is higher.

Language proficiency is required for Engineering Professionals.

  • IELTS result with a minimum score of 6 (L, R, W), 7 in speaking and 7 overall;
  • OET result with a minimum grade of B in all sections;
  • TOEFL iBT with a minimum score (L:12 R:13 W:21 S:23 overall L93);
  • PTE Academic with a min score of 50 (L, R, W), 65 in speaking, and 65 overall.
